Adult Life & Career Skills Program
So many times we hear about programs that focus on early intervention and services while children are in school- but we need to go further and focus on this young adults as they transition into their independence.
The LH Education Life & Career Skills Program is a full year program designed to transition individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities from students into adulthood.
- This program runs from 9 am - 2 pm on the same schedule as the Iredell Statesville School System. The skills that are focused on include: laundry, cooking, grocery shopping, making appointments, kitchen safety, problem solving skills, self-esteem, self-advocacy, money management, job interview skills, work skills, positive work behaviors, realistic employment goals and so much more.

A Sample Day is:
9:00-9:30 Go over Schedule/Planning
9:30-12:00 Classroom or Community Based Instruction
12:00-12:30 Lunch (Packed)
12:30-1:45 Classroom Instruction
1:45-2:00 Reflection/Pick up time
The program focuses on career readiness and independent living skills through such skills as interviewing, money management, cooking, cleaning, following written directions, scheduling appointments, transportation and much more!
Program has a staff to student ratio of 1:6 for individualized attention.

Students must have no injurious behaviors and must be able to follow simple instructions in order to be accepted into the program for safety reasons.
